Barcelona Sights and Wonders

Barcelona tours are filled with several points of interest. This article hopes to recommend a few Barcelona tours, sights, museums and attractions to help the traveler enjoy the beautiful city.

Sagrada Familia

Designed by architect Antoni Gaudi, the Basílica y Templo Expiatorio de la Sagrada Familia is still a work in progress, yet it is also one of the top Barcelona tours. Its richly ornamented interior, just completed in 2010, is said to have been inspired by nature, as the pillars seem to look like trees in a forest. The Sagrada Familia is scheduled to be completed in 2026, on Gaudi's 100th death anniversary.

Casa Batllo

The Casa Batllo is also one of the many Barcelona tours connected to Gaudi. He and his fellow architect Josep Maria Jujol worked on the building from 1904 to 1906, renovating it into the Modernist landmark that it is today. It is also known by its other name, House of Bones, because it has a skeletal feel to it. You can recognize it by its arched blue-green roof and the domed turret on its left side.

Picasso Museum

The Museu Picasso holds one of the most extensive collections of Pablo Picasso's early artworks and academic pieces, showing how much the city has influenced the artist's youth. No wonder the place is among the popular Barcelona tours. The museum itself is housed in five medieval mansions in Barcelona's El Born.

Magic Fountain

No traveler should ever miss the spectacular water performance of the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc in their Barcelona tours. Built in 1929 as part of the Barcelona World Fair, The Magic Fountain was restored just before the 1992 Summer Olympics held in the city. The light and sound shows can be seen all throughout the year, and the shows change with the seasons.
